Research

The majority of my research is related to paleolimnological analyses reconstructing anthropogenic impacts through multi-proxy analysis. I am also interested in systematics, phylogenetics, taphonomy, and functional morphology in thecas as well as gastropods and decapods.

Testate Amoebae as Biomonitors

Current work focuses on the anthropogenic impacts in NY lakes (Lake George, Cayuga Lake), specifically deforestation and heavy metal accumulation on theca assemblages. Other work includes experimenting with rearing thecas in meso- and micro- cosms.

Maastrichtian Decapods

The faunal assemblage of the Coon Creek Formation likely represents a unique refugia as the Western Interior Seaway was closing. The faunal assemblage, new species, and diverse morphologies as well as the taphonomic qualities are of import relating to the Mesozoic Marine Revolution.

Paleocene Gastropods

My first foray into paleontological study was with the Cannonball Formation gastropods. Since my bachelor's thesis in morphological analyses, I have become interested in the phylogenetics of gastropods.
